Q. How long have you been a Eurodesk multiplier?
I have been a Eurodesk multiplier since 2016.
Q. What three words would you use to describe your role?
A. First-to-ask person; European stuff; entertaining.
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. Dynamic environment, working with young people and networking with Eurodesk family!
Q. What are your biggest professional challenges?
Probably the cultural differences and different approach to basic things, such as punctuality or amount of emails sent regarding the same matter. Every time, I learn something new about myself and people I work with.
Q. What do you like most being a member of Eurodesk?
I love the professional trips around Europe and an opportunity to expand my professional horizons when taking part in the variety of training/webinars and seminars.
Q. How would you describe Eurodesk to a child?
It is a place where magic happens - you meet people from different countries, exchange practices and cultures, receive great support from the network and use your own knowledge to help other people.
Q. Name a programme or resource that has worked well to raise awareness of European Opportunities
One of the Donegal Youth Services’ famous Time to Move events - We created here an airport, delivering the real-life experience to disadvantaged young people: check-in (maybe the only one in their life so far?), duty-free shop (explaining the importance of EU free market), and 4 gates where they could get information on studying, volunteering or working abroad, or simply chat with one of the ESC volunteers. It was an extremely successful event, widely recognised within the Eurodesk network across Europe.
Q. What advice would you give to someone who wants to become a Eurodesk multiplier?
A. Be ready for hard, rewarding work, extraordinary network meetings, constant jokes about no trains in Donegal, but first of all, supportive and welcoming environment.
Q. What is your motto or personal mantra?
'Lower your expectations, keep your standards high'
