A fairer, simpler Erasmus+ for young Europeans
|
|
|
|
On 28 January 2026, Eurodesk Director Audrey Frith presented Eurodesk's views on the future Erasmus+ programme (2028–2034) to the European Parliament's Culture and Education Committee. She welcomed the proposed budget increase and simpler structure, while advocating for a stronger youth chapter (15% of funding) and highlighting the vital role of youth information networks like Eurodesk to ensure inclusivity. She stressed that opportunities must be accessible, visible, and easy to apply for via the European Youth Portal.

Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought
|
|
|
|
Eurodesk had the honour of attending the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought award ceremony on 16 December in Strasbourg. During the event, European Parliament President Roberta Metsola presented the prize to journalists Andrzej Poczobut and Mzia Amaglobeli, recognising their courageous fight for freedom of expression and a democratic future in Belarus and Georgia.
Named after Soviet physicist and political dissident Andrei Sakharov, the Sakharov Prize is the European Union’s highest distinction in the field of human rights.

European Youth Week
|
|
|
|
Organised by the European Commission, the European Youth Week 2026 will run from 24 April to 1 May under the theme “Solidarity and Fairness.” The event celebrates youth engagement and marks 30 years of volunteering with an exhibition honouring Europeans who have made a difference. The week will kick off at the European Parliament in Brussels, bringing together over 1,000 participants to exchange ideas and perspectives during a full day of activities. Eurodesk will be present to join the celebrations and connect with youth from all over Europe.

New EU Anti-Racism Strategy 2026–2030
|
|
|
|
The EU has adopted the new Anti-Racism Strategy 2026–2030, calling for a Europe free from racism where everyone can thrive, fully participate in society and contribute to its stability and prosperity. Building on the EU Anti-Racism Action Plan 2020–2025, the new strategy aims to combat racism in all its forms.

CIDJ and Eurodesk invite young people to imagine tomorrow's green Europe
|
|
|
|
Once again, our colleagues from Eurodesk France and Eurodesk Belgium, have joined forces to launch the 4th edition of the contest "I Draw my Green Europe", giving young people a space to express themselves, imagine tomorrow’s Europe, and contribute to building a greener one. This initiative is much more than a contest: it provides an opportunity to foster creativity, promote civic engagement, and raise awareness of key environmental challenges by highlighting current issues related to sustainable development.
For the 2025/2026 edition, the contest focuses on the theme of fauna and flora.
